LIFE IN BARCELONA AS AN ERASMUS STUDENT

As an Erasmus student in Barcelona, my life was a dynamic mix of working, meeting people and having fun. I balanced my student exchange with an internship, which helped me immerse myself in the local culture while earning some extra cash.

After work, I dove into the vibrant nightlife, exploring bars, clubs, and beach parties. The warm climate and beautiful surroundings made it easy to socialize, whether I was relaxing in parks or enjoying tapas with new friends. Joining student organizations and attending local events helped me meet people from all over the world. Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity for personal and professional growth while soaking in the lively atmosphere of Barcelona!

BARCELONA

Barcelona is a vibrant city known for its stunning architecture, rich history, and lively culture. It is famous for Antoni Gaudí’s masterpieces, including the iconic Sagrada Família and Park Güell. The city boasts beautiful beaches along the Mediterranean, making it a perfect spot for sunbathing and socializing.

Barcelona’s neighborhoods, like the Gothic Quarter and El Raval, offer a mix of historic charm and modern flair, with countless shops, cafes, and galleries. The city is also renowned for its culinary scene, featuring everything from traditional tapas, paellas and churros with hot chocolate to innovative dining experiences.

With a bustling nightlife, numerous festivals, and a strong arts scene, Barcelona is a place where there’s always something happening, making it an exciting destination for both residents and visitors.

A MORE DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF WORKPLACE

In my role, I balanced fieldwork and office responsibilities, focusing on the automation of ovens for warm production. I actively analyzed the organizational structure, working closely with top management, including the CEO and CTO, to align our automation goals with the company’s technical vision. Through the Research and Development (R&D) department, I contributed to the design and improvement of systems that enhanced production efficiency. I also engaged in cost analysis, determining direct labor and material costs essential for the automation processes. My responsibilities included maintaining control systems, employing preventive maintenance strategies, and diagnosing equipment issues to ensure smooth operations. I utilized CAD software for product modeling and created technical documentation to support our manufacturing processes. Overall, my experience was integral to streamlining production and improving the overall efficiency of our operations.

 

TASKS AND DUTIES ON A DAILY BASIS

Each day, I started by reviewing the plan I made with my mentor to ensure I was on track with my goals. Fieldwork was a key part of my routine, allowing me to apply what I learned in real-world situations. I conducted interviews and gathered data, which kept my days engaging and hands-on. I also attended team meetings to discuss progress and share insights with my colleagues. One of the perks of my role was having a company car, which made it easy to travel to different sites. Plus, I enjoyed provided lunches, giving me a chance to relax and connect with my teammates. Overall, my daily tasks kept me motivated and enriched my learning experience.

 

CONCLUSION

My internship in Barcelona was an invaluable experience that significantly enriched my professional and personal growth. Working on the automation of ovens for warm production allowed me to apply my theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, bridging the gap between academia and industry.
